M-Brain’s Global Intelligence Survey is the most well-established study on Competitive and Market Intelligence. It is designed to support all intelligence-based teams and practitioners to back up their planning with accurate facts and statistics on emerging industry trends. Today, M-Brain has launched its 2019 Global Intelligence Survey and it is open for responses until June 20th.
The Global Intelligence Survey is based on M-Brain’s Market Intelligence Framework developed throughout the years by leading professionals in Intelligence. The survey has been carried out biennially since 2005 and its results have given insights on how companies, in all industries, geographies and sizes are performing market intelligence.
Your opinion matters

In recent years all kinds of organizations have used the survey results to benchmark, set aspirational goals and develop roadmaps and implementation plans to better understand how Intelligence can help them to increase profits and grasp opportunities, and how to tackle emerging risks in the business environment.

Where in the organization is intelligence managed from?
In 54 % of the respondent organizations Intelligence is part of the strategy or marketing organization. A clear shift towards strategy was apparent compared to previous years.
How large are Intelligence budgets?
Most companies that responded to the survey have a budget of 100-200 k€/$ (excluding HR costs). The average intelligence budget however was 435 k€/$. B2B companies spend more on intelligence reports and research than B2C companies.
How are Intelligence professionals perceived inside an organization?
61.8 % of the respondents see intelligence professionals as either intelligence practitioners delivering insights and foresights with conclusions, as consultants providing options and opinions, or as trusted advisors having a seat at the decision-making table. There is a clear correlation between Intelligence professionals sitting closer to the CEO in the organizational chart, and more often having an advisory role in the organization.
