CEO Jaana Rekolainen selected to UEF Board

The University Collegiate Body of the University of Eastern Finland selected Jaana Rekolainen, MA, as a new member of the UEF Board on 17 April 2018.

Jaana Rekolainen is CEO of the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce, where she has worked since 2009, first as Project Manager and Deputy CEO and, since 2016, as CEO. Her earlier roles include Head of Export at Finlayson Forssa Oy in 2006-2008, and she has held various positions in SRV Yhtiöt Oy in 1998–2006 relating to activities in Russia, including Head of the Moscow Office and Marketing Manager. Rekolainen holds an MA degree awarded by the University of Joensuu.

The appointment of a new external member to the university’s Board became topical, when Polar Electro’s Director of Science Collaborations Raija Laukkanen resigned from the Board.

The Board defines the university’s central goals and strategy. The Board of the University of Eastern Finland is composed of a total of 10 members, four of whom are external members.

The following people will continue as external members of the Board: Executive Director of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies Lea Ryynänen-Karjalainen, the Chair of the Board; Senior Vice President of Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company Jaakko Kiander, the Vice Chair of the Board; and Bishop of the Kuopio Diocese Jari Jolkkonen.
